You always remember your first time

If you read the title and thought something dirty, get your mind out of the gutter! Actually, I'm referring to my first time seeing a Rocky Horror Picture Show! Okay, so get your mind back in the gutter ;). My Friday started with an average day of school. My lunch table actually went out for lunch. Surprise surprise! Usually we don't go out. Then I had voice class which went well. After school I went to my voice lesson in Summit. I picked one of the songs for my college supplemental CD. I'm definitely singing "No one is Alone" from Into the Woods. Yay decisions! Then I got home and frantically got ready for band. I went to the football game and yay they won. The guest stands sucked and I couldn't really watch the game though. Also the guard didn't have good show according to our director. So then I had a intervention talk with the color guard and then separately yelled at the rifles. Ugh marching band can be so stressful! Ooh also at the football game I became a slap-bet commissioner! My friends Jon and Brian were arguing over a test answer for math and decided to make gentleman's agreement (huzzah!) Then I changed my clothes and did my makeup (skill) on the bus so I was ready for some Rocky Horror time! Mi amigo Rob picked me up and we drove to the theatre for the midnight showing. Our friend Christine was assistant directing the show which prompted the adventure. So we arrive and there are tons of people dressed up for the show! Like audience members who dressed crazy. Cast members clad only in lingerie welcomed us. They used red lipstick to label our foreheads with V's signifying that we were "virgins" in the Rocky Horror World. So they brought all the virgins in first so we'd have first pick of the seats. Then this drunk couple sat next to us, but then they were escorted out for being too drunk. It was kinda funny, but also pretty scary too. One of them could have hurled on me! Ah yes, but if you haven't seen a Rocky Horror show, go see one while your still young and impressionable! First they're big on audience participation. The actress playing Magenta would randomly sit next to (or on!) audience members, she was hysterical. At one point this girl was turned around to the back so Magenta goes up to her and says," Turn around and watch the movie bitch! Do you need me to show you how to watch the movie?!" I may have paraphrased that a little... Yes, and there were the infamous callbacks. Every time they say "Brad" you're supposed to shout asshole. And every time they say "Janet" you're supposed to shout slut! However, there were a couple of times I shouted and no one else did...Awks. They also gave us newspapers to cover our heads with during the rain scene just like Janet (slut) does! They didn't throw toast at me which was extremely disappointing :(. So how they did it was they played the movie and the actors would just lip synch with the screen. So I don't really know if the actors could even sing. The Frank N. Furt was really good. The Brad (Asshole) and Janet (slut) were pretty good too. I was kinda disappointed with the muscle mass of the Rocky, but he was still pretty cute. I wonder how many pairs of fishnets stockings that cast goes through. Literally everyone wore fishnets and they were mostly torn to shreds by the end of the show. Haha ridiculous! Then after enjoying the show (questionable haha) I somewhat worked my way home at a ridiculously late hour. At that point I was so exhausted I was starting to lose it. Sleep is really good. Overall a fantastic evening...even if I didn't get toast thrown at me!

bright lights, late nights

Last night was the first marching band competition of the season! 2nd place 85.002 with best percussion and best overall effect. It was ahmazing. Since I'm captain this year I got to do the retreat with Lauren and Sam. I think the 3 of us are adorable. We held hands when we marched on so cute. And then they would do their salutes and I'd dance behind them. It was so cold in just my guard uniform. Oh my gosh but we'd talk to other drum majors and drum captains and fake shmooze and it was fun. The group that marched on behind us was hysterical. One of their drum majors wore a tuxedo and another one wore a purple gown. So for their salute he would go "Detail, do the spin" and she would spin in and spin out. But they just came up with it today and they were really bad and we were joking around with them and the guy was totally in love with himself but he was cute so it was okay. Then while we were warming up this band walked by and their tuba section totally checked out my guard. It was flattering in a funny way. Yes but our performance was pretty early and awards were pretty late so we all went back to the school unpacked and then one bus went back for awards. So we got back to the school around 1. Then I said I'd drive some people home, but we ended up driving around looking for a late night snack. So I didn't get to bed until 3. Then today, I did a photo shoot with Sonya. I had a lot of people who said they would model, but 5/6 bailed. It's just really frustrating because they're all like I have to do homework, and that was my homework and now I'm gonna be behind for the rest of the project which they don't understand. If they had told me Friday I wouldn't have been upset. I could've set up a tripod or something. But I had a lot of fun with Sonya which is good. That's all for now hopefully I'll blog sooner than later.

Mr. N can I have my life back, please?

I need more time. More time to do home work, more time to do college apps, more time to practice for my musical audition, more time to sleep, more time to be free! I'm way behind on homework especially Psychology and I need to step up my game in a lot of my classes. Thanks to AP Japanese I have 3 kanji test a week. I'm naturally bad at kanji my memory sucks! I feel like everyone else does really well on them and their easy, but I actually try and I just blank during the test.  My college counselor (my mom hired one outside NPHS cause I need extra help ughhh) says I need to get straight A's the first semester. NBD, no pressure. My mom is constantly trying to get me to spend more time on my apps even though I'm doing all regular decision. I'm aplying to so many schools like 13! Do you know how many supplement questions that is??? Tomorrow is day 1 of 3 for musical auditions. I'm so stressed I literally just decided what song I'm singing, haven't printed my form yet, don;t have my monologue memorized, and am trying out against a whole bunch of people who have a better shot than me. Personally I think the musical (Pirates of Penzace) was a bad choice and we should have done Oklahoma, but whatever! Yes, so beyond screwed for that audition. I'm tired all the time for no reason. Probs anemia or something awful like that. Like caffeine barely impacts me it's so bad. But also I'm extremely free spirited and need to engage in an active social life. Also marching band is kicking my butt. It's so stressful this year. Transitioning to a new director is really difficult and most of the girls are just being very difficult to work with. I spend so much time at band it's ridiculous. My weekend was pretty awesome if not completely unproductive. Friday I had a voice lesson which was really nice. Then I went to Panera and watched an film from Sundance called Hesher. It starred Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon Levitt. I absolutely love him. I saw 50/50 the day it came out because I promised myself that Sept 30th I'd be in that theatre even if I went alone! Luckily Nicole went with me... Then Saturday I slept in! 12 hours of sleep compared to 3 the night before! (I got 3 hrs of sleep because I procrastinated writing a paper for photography...oops) Then Saturday night I got all dolled up for dinner and hanging out with Sonya, Emma, Victor, and Dan! I haven't seen Dan in so long. Not to be vain, but I felt really pretty. Honestly I wear cute, feminine clothing, have nice hair and makeup. Where's my man!? I just read Sonya's blog and she went on a boy rant so it's rubbing off on me. But seriously sometimes it feels like no one thinks I'm attractive. Sunday I helped my guard frosh with some counts and got all dolled up again. This time it was to see Spiderman: turn off the dark on Broadway! It sounded pretty lame but was actually really cool! We were first row balcony in "the flying section" The effects were really cool I totally acted like a child! All the special effects though are really just a distraction from the soundtrack and awful script. Honestly if Rogers and Hammerstein could see some of the things on Broadway these days! After a wonderful afternoon in the city, I came home threw on my red vintage 1970s cowboy boots and went line dancing. So good! That's a pretty stellar weekend in my book. Yeah, I love marching band but I'm gonna be really happy when everything's a little less hectic. Maybe after band I'll actually blog more often than once a month! But for now this will have to do!
